And just as the cover art is decidedly not formulaic, so was Stacia's writing style.
I am so psyched by the novel's first, say, 50 pages. It read like a mainstream fiction novel and by that I mean Stacia set the stage in what seemed like a relatively normal world and little by little began offering up insights into Megan's powers and singular significance, Greyson Dante's true identity and mission, etc.
Very savvy for a young novelist ifI- I was suitably impressed by Stacia's storytelling abilitiesifdI also thought the whole take on demons was refreshingly original. It's increasingly hard to do something truly original in this subgenre but I think Stacia did a wonderful job Watch out Urban Fantasy, there's a new girl in town. Stacia Kane's new series gets a fantastic start in Personal Demons The pacing of this book is close to perfect, I devoured it in near record time not because it's short, but because it was such an easy and enjoyable read The winners of funnest new sidekicks were the demonic cockney triplets - Malleus, Maleficarum, and Spud.
These guys offered a laugh at every turn and I grew truly concerned when their lives were in danger. I'm excited about Stacia Kane's prospects in the Urban Fantasy genre. Personal Demons is fun, scary, sexy, exciting and everything in between and if the second book, Demon Inside, can live up to the first then Kane will definitely be a must-read author. It's action packed, humorous and suspenseful.
Welcome to Beatport
Megan herself is well-drawnifd a likeable and believable character. Greyson Dante is necessarily mysterious and his motivation hard to fathom, but he is an appealing character and the sparks between him and Megan are well-written Personal Demons by Stacia Kane kicks off a new series with a sexy demon, a number of humorous secondary characters and situations, and a kick-butt fun heroine who intends to save the world, all set in a contemporary urban setting! I enjoyed the book and laughed out loud at some of the antics of the secondary characters and was glad I was reading this during the day in other parts of the story.
If there are other stories out there like this one, I've never read it. A fanc'l walk on the creepy and dark side that will keep you up reading long into the night. A great beginning to a new series. Kane has managed to blend eerie edginess with laugh out loud humor and just enough romance to make this a truly winning recipe for a good read. She even includes a recipe that looks interesting enough to almost tempt a vegetarian! I simply adored this story, especially the three brothers who I cannot decide if I'd enjoy having around or if they'd drive me mad trying to 'take care of me' were I their charge.

Treat yourself to this when you want to smile. Sixty pages later, I realized I really needed to get them off the grill before they started to burn. I think it was about at night when I announced I wasn't going to sleep until I finished it.enter site

Note to self, don't start reading anything but Stacia Kane after if I have work the next morningifd. You, I am afraid, are not one of those people, and it is our job to make sure of that. Who are we? Oh yes, of course, how rude of me. Allow me to introduce us:. Shame is my younger brother, the demon on your left shoulder. Shame whispered into your ear when your mother found you playing with yourself as a child. Shame is the one who makes you hate yourself. Fear sits on your right shoulder. He is my older brother, as old as life itself. Fear fills every dark corner with monsters, turns every stranger on a dark street into a murderer.
Fear stops you from telling your crush how you feel.
He tells you it is better not to try than let people see you fail. Fear makes you build your own prison. Who am I, then? I am the worst of your demons, but you see me as a friend. You turn to me when you have nothing else, because I live in your heart.
I am the one who forces you to endure. The one who prolongs your torment. This might be my favorite of Garm's, which is saying something. What's that, all of my upvotes? It's time to go where you belong, once again?
To Garm's latest story? Well I'm going to miss you, but I understand. I love how much this resonates with me. When I was younger and read the myth of Pandora's Box, I used to wonder why Hope was trapped in there with all of those terrible evil things. After I grew up and lived a little, one day I was like "Oh, I get it.
Yeah, this doesn't represent how I think about the world though. More like a "worst case scenario".

Dude, this shit hit me in a way I wasn't expecting. I feel like if people could read this and relate to it, you honestly could help more than you'd imagine.
That Fear demon is literally something I struggle with daily, and makes you not even acknowledge that the time you spend fearing something is completely wasted. You, I am afraid, are not one of those people. It is a trinity and an evil circle They can never be with, or without each other Wow, read the whole thing and didn't expect the ending. I tried to guess too, but couldn't do it. Great job. You have my upvote. After finding out there was a cure for my mental disorder, then finding out it was a scam, hope can go fuck himself.
That makes me really sad to hear.
